Foursquare is an extremely popular app and website which has the potential to reward it?s users for frequently visiting locations over a period of time. Foursquare makes this fun for it?s users by awarding points for each check in at a location, allowing users to compete against friends in weekly league tables for added enjoyment.

Foursquare is available as a

free download from the Android Market and will run on any modern smartphone released in the previous 2 years. Foursquare requires 4.1 Mb of storage space and will install to a SD card if you are running Android 2.2 or above. Each location in Foursquare is allocated a mayor. A mayor is the user who has checked in at a location the most times in a 60 day period. Whilst you get extra points if you are mayor, some establishments also reward the mayor with discounts and offers when they check in at their location, adding an extra incentive to the game.

The Explore panel from within the app is extremely useful for users who may not be familiar with an area. From here you can easily find locations broken down by category such as food, coffee and nightlife within a specified distance from your existing location. You can also filter this list to show locations that have been recommended by other
